Frequently Asked Questions
Connectivity
Q:
Why is my Netclicker Remote not connecting on Windows?
A:
Windows Firewall may block connections if your network is set to “Public”. Setting it to “Private” usually fixes this.
On Windows, when you first connect to a Wi-Fi network, you’re asked whether to treat it as Public or Private. This choice determines how strict the Windows Defender Firewall is for that network.
Private network
Windows assumes you trust the network (such as home or small office Wi-Fi). The firewall allows local device communication, which is required for Netclicker to connect.
Public network
Windows assumes the network is untrusted (such as cafés, airports, or shared Wi-Fi). The firewall is stricter and may block incoming connections — including Netclicker Remote.
If your Wi-Fi was set to Public, Windows may block the connection between Netclicker Remote and Netclicker TV, even if both devices are on the same network.
✅ How to Fix This:
Go to
Settings → Network & Internet → Wi-Fi or Ethernet
Click your connected network
Under
Network profile
, select
Private
.
After switching to Private, try connecting again.
If needed, go to
Windows Security (Defender) Firewall → Allow an app through firewall
and ensure
Netclicker
is allowed on
Private networks
Optional (Advanced): Manually Allow Port 3100 in Windows Security (Defender) Firewall
If switching your network to Private does not resolve the issue, you can manually allow Netclicker by opening port 3100 in Windows Security (Defender) Firewall.
This step is only necessary if your network must remain set to Public.
✅ Steps:
Open
Windows Security (Defender) > Firewall & Network Protection > Advanced Settings
Click
Inbound Rules
Select
New Rule…
Choose
Port
→ Click
Next
Select
TCP
(repeat for
UDP
if required)
Enter
3100
in the
Specific local ports
field
(Note: The port number must match the one set in Netclicker TV settings. The default is 3100)
Choose
Allow the connection
Select
Private
(and
Public
only if you explicitly want to support it)
Name the rule (e.g., “
Netclicker - Port 3100
”)
After creating the rule, try connecting again.
🔐 Security Note
Netclicker only communicates locally on your network and does not expose your device to the internet.
